"As a potter I am interested in the simple beauty
of functional form. I appreciate the forms in Japanese design, as well as the dedication and practice of their folk artists,
and this is reflected in my style.
Not only does the Japanese
aesthetic appeal to me, but I also find great beauty in Islamic art
and its use of stylized images from nature with organic colors
and repetitive designs.
I have an interest in art from the 20th century
as well. The marriage of form and surface decoration in turn of the century art
pottery and the delicate beauty of Lucie Rie inspires me to
create with clean forms and elegant glazes."
